Lemme just start by saying that we live in handsdown one of the most “following” eras of American life possible.
Everybody gets so caught up in what I like to call the “Culture of Cool” that everybody is doing the. same. thing. This culture calls for people to be defined in differential terms. To look a certain way – differently. To constantly be a trendsetter of different things. To do the “hip” or “latest” thing, differently. To think avant-garde in all aspects of life, but differently. And it looks stupid. But here’s the thing: the members of the Culture of Cool (whether professed or categorized) who pride themselves on being such individuals really don’t understand that they’re all following a fad. They are all little pawns in this game of commercialized tag. Dummies.
